About this Album
Fan Review: The Kovenant have their roots in Norwegian Black Metal but this album is a foray into cyber-electronica with influences from Industrial music. It is also the first album where their name was changed from Covenant to The Kovenant. It took me a long time to truly appreciate this album but I really love it now. There are still a lot of Female choral vocals as in older material as well as black metal style vocals. The guitar sound is more industrial rock in style than previous outings but is still heavy in places. The songs are catchy and well structured, they evoke a soundscape that is trippy and dark at the same time. The lead guitars are soulfully weird, melodic and delivered brilliantly. The drumming is varied and of a very high standard. This album is incredibly good and diverse but I doubt that many Black Metal die hard fans will rate this at all. If you like Dark-wave or Gothic Metal this album is for you.
