Fan Review: I have patiently been waiting for this album since 1987 and after so many years, twenty five to be exact I am not disappointed at all. From the start this album kills and gives me goose flesh from head to toe, WOW!!!! If you have heard Possessed By Fire and Rising From The Sea then you know these guys deserved to be bigger than Metallica!!! It was a shame that many of the eighties thrash bands released a couple of albums and then faded into oblivion especially in this instance. Exumer were an aggressive thrash band at the time when thrash was morphing into death metal but because of their record label (Disaster Records) going out of business they and their label mates Angel Dust and Mandator disappeared over night, what a pity.
Angel Dust made a strong come back in the nineties but it fizzled out after a further four albums on Century Media added to their initial two albums on Disaster Records. This album contains ten tracks, eight which are new and two that are re-workings of earlier material (Fallen Saint and I Dare You) which are all brilliant Thrash Metal monsters. Exumer had a very American sound for a band hailing from Germany and were contenders for the throne of thrash as they were more accessible to the English speaking world than Destruction, Kreator, Sodom or tankard. Exumer had a mixture of Slayer and Exodus influences to their style but they weren’t clones, they still had their own identity. If you love hard, harsh Thrash Metal then you need to buy all three of their albums. Fire and Damnation
