Fan Review: Arven was unknown to me until now. Through the invariably good reviews here I became aware of the CD. Good thing. Because what the girls around their drummer deliver here can hardly be surpassed in quality. Strong melodies, sometimes it rocks off, sometimes the lovely voice of the front woman sounds to melodic piano, so that you can enjoy the tracks second by second.
Arven know how to mix spinet-like melodies from medieval times with the hard riffs of modern times in an impressive way. Thereby the tracks have their own arc of tension. And if you have listened to the first 9 songs and think that this level can’t go on until the last one, you will be confirmed, because the last track is a super nice composition with fast and ballad parts and a guitar solo to kneel down.
The bar for the second album is high, which hopefully will not be long in coming. If this should increase again, hardly imaginable, we would have a problem: Where do we get the 6th star?
