Album Review
While 2013’s Halo of Blood was a re-visitation of structures and a legitimate development to sophomore Hatebreeder and third Follow the Reaper collections, it seemed the band was trying excessively hard. This can’t be said of 2015’s I Worship Chaos, where the band sounds both new and hard and seeks after the same sound they were heading to toward the beginning of the 2000s.
Unexpectedly, Children of Bodom recorded as a 4-member band, meaning each and every riff, lick and guitar solo is executed by Alexi Laiho. What’s more, try to keep your hat on, this appears to have changed the finish of the compositions, which sound more keen and contains multiple layers that fit indeed, especially the performances.
I Worship Chaos is likely the best collection the band recorded since 2000’s Follow the Reaper. Obviously, Hate Crew Deathroll (2003) was an extraordinary collection, yet changed a ton the style of a band who made work the combination of styles, for example, melodic demise, whip and force. Presently we find a little bit a greater amount of dark metal (especially in the drumming and impact thumps) and even glitz/80’s hard rock added to the equation, especially in riffs from “My Bodom (The Only One)” or “Widdershins” tracks.
Console performances sounds crazier and possibly reminiscent of 2003’s “You’re Better Off Dead”, winning back concentration and covering by and by the collection all in all in a climate previously heard distinctly in Follow the Reaper. Guitars have significantly additionally feeling while still showing Laiho’s virtuosism. About the tracks, we get masterpiece melodies such “My Bodom (The Only One)” or the more obscure and neoclassic “Horns”, appealing ones, for example, “Morrigan” or “Hold Your Tongue” and at no other time heard ones, for example, “Just for Nothing,” Which is Bodom’s generally melancholic and different sounding tune they’ve ever recorded. We finally will hear guitar and console talking to one another in a final part that fits a greater number of performances than some other Bodom melody in the band’s history. The other moderate one, “Petition for the Afflicted” is maybe excessively reminiscent of the Bodom classic “Blessed messenger’s Don’t Kill”, but functions as, again, the performances sound inspired. “Hold Your Tongue” kicks with a cutting edge In Flames influenced riff just to lead into a stone melody snappy as hellfire. The Children of Bodom are back with a retribution.
